A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

Mark Twain is one of the great American writers. He wrote this book in 1889. The style of writing during this time was realism. Prior to realism was romanticism. So this book was a response to romanticism. It's about this guy who time travels to the 1600s to Camelot. It goes through his experiences there. It portrays King Arthur and the people in the society of that time as very human, with flaws and failures. It goes through slavery, which is a response to his own society's problems. It's a funny book sometimes when the main character, Hank, brings 19th century technology to this Medieval society. It's a pretty good read. I read it in 2 days. It's an interesting look at Mark Twain's interpretation of what it would be like to live during Medieval Times!
